A step-by-step guide on leveraging jQuery .get() function within a Windows Gadget

I am attempting to extract information from a website and display it in my sidebar gadget using the following code:

$.get("http://localhost/index.php", function(data) {
    $("#result").html("Data Loaded: " + data);
});

While this works when I access it through my Apache web server, the same code does not work within the Gadget.

Is there a straightforward way to retrieve data from a webpage and display it in a Windows Gadget?

Regards - lugro (apologies for any language errors)

System: Windows 7 jQuery v1.5.2

Answer №1

Absolutely! Make sure to define this attribute:

jQuery.support.cors = true;

Answer №2

The issue seems to be related to security settings in Windows Vista/7. In Vista, using IE7 may prevent you from opening files both from your PC and the web simultaneously. You could try adjusting your security settings to resolve this. - Jara001

Update: I am actively working on finding a solution for this problem. Once I have it, I will share it here.
