Achieving Efficiency with Handlebars: Streamlining Remote Template Organization and

I am looking for a way to better organize my HB template by splitting it into different HTML files. In this case, I have created a file called helpers.html. This file contains two script tags:

<script id='alert' type='text/template>...</script>
and
<script id='notification' type='text/template'></script>
. Now, the question is how can I access a specific template within this file?

In a jQuery context, we would typically use a selector like $('#alert') to target an element. However, since this is a remote template, accessing it directly may pose some challenges. It's uncertain whether this is even possible.

Answer №1

Here's a thought: attempt to utilize them, and if you can't locate what you're seeking, load it.

This serves as a basic illustration, but there are more advanced solutions available where you can employ greater intelligence:

function applyNotification(){
  var element = $('#notification');
  // proceed only if the element is present
  if(element){
    // execute desired actions
  } else {
    // in this case, we are loading the templates within an element with the ID of #templates
    // using recursion, we call this method again inside the callback function
    $('#templates').load('/path/to/helpers.htm', function(error){
      // debug... remember to remove the console log when in production
      if(error){
        return console.log('Error', error);
      }
      // try once again now
      applyNotification();
    });
  }
