Achieving Jest integration with Angular 9 in a Storybook setup

We are currently utilizing Storybook 5 alongside Angular 9, with Jest 26 for some of the testing procedures.

The issue we're facing arises when using Typescript version below 3.8.0 - a requirement for Angular 9's ng build --prod. This results in multiple errors related to Jest types like the following:

node_modules/@types/jest/node_modules/pretty-format/build/index.d.ts:7:36 - error TS1005: ';' expected.

Upon switching to Typescript 3.8.3, the Jest types function correctly; however, Angular is unable to build for production due to the need for a lower Typescript version.

If anyone has any solutions or suggestions on how to resolve this dilemma, please share them!

Answer №1

It turns out that I found a solution to the problem by upgrading Angular from version 9.0 to 9.1. This newer version utilizes Typescript version 3.8.3. Once I completed the update, both the testing and building processes functioned as intended.
