Angular 2 is throwing an error stating that the argument 'ElementRef' cannot be assigned to the parameter 'ViewContainerRef'

I'm developing an Angular 2 application with angular-cli, but when I include the following constructor, I encounter the following error:

Error

Argument of type 'ElementRef' is not assignable to parameter of type 'ViewContainerRef'. Property 'element' is missing in type 'ElementRef'.

This is my constructor:

constructor( _elementRef: ElementRef, _loader: DynamicComponentLoader,_parentRouter: Router, @Attribute('name') nameAttr: string, private userService: LoginComponent)
{
    super( _elementRef, _loader, _parentRouter, nameAttr);

    this.parentRouter = _parentRouter;
    this.publicRoutes = ['', 'login', 'signup'];
}

Can anyone help me identify what's wrong with my code? I'm using Angular 2 rc.3.

Answer №1

Make sure to include ViewContainerRef in your imports and constructor, then replace elementRef with it in your code.

It seems that there was a recent change where you can no longer pass elementRef to ViewContainerRef.

import {Component, DynamicComponentLoader, ElementRef, ViewContainerRef} from '@angular/core';

....

constructor( _elementRef: ElementRef, _viewContainerRef: ViewContainerRef, _loader: DynamicComponentLoader, ...)
{
    super(_viewContainerRef, _loader, ...);
}
