Can anyone provide guidance on how to create this particular shadow effect using CSS?

Is there a method to use CSS to create a green shadow in that particular shape?

Answer №1

You have the ability to layer multiple box-shadow effects by stacking the horizontal and vertical offset values. This allows you to alternate between two colors and add as many layers as desired, like so:

 div {
     background: olive;

     box-shadow:
     0 01px black,
     01px 0 green,
     01px 02px black,
     02px 01px green,
     02px 03px black,
     03px 02px green,
     03px 04px black,
     04px 03px green,
     04px 05px black,
     05px 04px green;

     height: 50px;
     width: 50px;
 }

If your goal is to achieve the effect of a bottom shadow without implementing a side shadow, you can simply create a rhomboid shape underneath it:

section{
    height:70px;width:70px;
    background-color: #00f;
    position: relative;
}
section:after{
    content:'';
    background-color: #99F;
    width: 70px; height: 15px;
    position: absolute;
    bottom: -15px; left: 8px;
    transform: skewx(50deg)
}
