Combining Flask with npm: A Comprehensive Guide

I have a unique flask application that initiates with

python3 app.py

running on localhost:5000

Moreover, there is another distinct nodejs program that kicks off with

npm run start

which operates on localhost:3000

The challenge that lies ahead for me is to merge the npm functionality into my flask app. Once the flask app is up and running, I desire to trigger the npm app by simply clicking an HTML button within the flask application. Is there a way to accomplish this task effectively?

Answer №1

I strongly advise against using this method!

There are alternative tools available to ensure the smooth operation of your services, such as systemd or supervisor.

If you absolutely must use Flask, although I really discourage it...

import os
os.system("npm run start")

Have I made it clear that this is not a recommended approach? :-)
