Design and execution of webpage structure

My website features a single-page layout with fixed navigation that allows users to easily navigate up and down the page using #. However, when the page loads I want it to display the second section of content instead of the top section.

Is there a way to achieve this by using something like an "onload" event to automatically go to #first when the page is loaded in the browser?

For reference, you can check out a website that accomplishes what I am trying to do here:

<nav>
  <ul>
    <li><a href="#top">Top</a></li>
    <li><a href="#first">First</a></li>
    <li><a href="#second">Second</a></li>
 </ul>
</nav>

<section id="top">
  <h2>Top</h2>
  <p>blah</p>
</section>

<section id="first">
  <h1>First</h1>
  <p>You see this first</p>
</section>

<section id="second">
   <h2>Two</h2>
   <p>blah</p>
</section>

Answer №1

<div class="navigation" id="scrollToSecondSection">
