Disable the click event using jQuery

$("button").click(function (){
$("<button>Start</button>).appendTo('main');
});

The code above introduces a functionality where clicking a button generates another button dynamically. However, each subsequent click keeps adding new buttons which is not the desired outcome. The goal is to prevent the addition of multiple buttons upon clicking.

Answer №1

Please consider adding a class because you're currently using a generic selector. This behavior is expected as of now. Perhaps something like .clicker could be used as the class name.

$("button.clicker").click(function() {
  // Also, don't forget to add the closing " after </button>
  $("<button>Start</button>").appendTo('main');
});
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<main>
  <button class="clicker">Click Me</button>
</main>
