Drag and drop functionality in Material UI Grid

Is there a simple way to convert my Material-Ui Grid into a drag and drop grid? I've already attempted using the react-grid-layout package, but it produced unexpected results. Can someone suggest an easy method for making the Material Ui grid draggable and droppable?

This is how my grid currently looks:

<Grid
   container
   spacing={2}
   direction="row"
   justify="flex-start"
   alignItems="flex-start"
  >
    { widgets.map(elem => (
      <Grid item xs={12} sm={6} md={3} key={widgets.indexOf(elem)}>
         { elem }
      </Grid>
    ))}
</Grid>

Answer №1

I encountered a similar problem with react-grid-layout like you did. A solution is to enclose the grid within a div that has relative positioning.

        <div style={{position: "relative"}}>
            <ResponsiveReactGridLayout
        </div>
