ES5 enables the extension of classes in React

This ES6 syntax works fine for me:

import {Component} from 'react';
class A extends Component {}
class B extends A {
    // I can redeclare some methods here
}

But how would one implement this using ES5? Like so:

var React = require('react');
var A = React.createClass({});
var B = ???   // What should go here?

If anyone could provide an example, that would be greatly appreciated!

Answer №1

my unique code

React.createExtendedClass=function(parentClass,newMethods){
    var extendedClass=function(){};
    extendedClass.prototype=new parentClass({});
    for(var prop in newMethods){
        extendedClass.prototype[prop]=newMethods[prop];
    }
    return extendedClass;
}

var Base=React.createClass({
    getData:function(){

    },
    render:function(){
        return (
            <div>{this.getData()}</div>
        );
    }
});

var Extended=React.createExtendedClass(Base,{
    getData:function(){
        return "this is extended data";
    }
});
