Executing Tasks in Kubernetes

As I work on developing a scraping app using multiple Selenium scripts that are interdependent, I've realized the potential benefits of utilizing Kubernetes for this project. However, in order to make this setup successful, I need to establish communication between these scripts so they can be triggered sequentially. How can I achieve this?

Here's an example of the logic I'm aiming to implement:
  1. Initiate container X to generate a JSON file containing collected data.
  2. Grant access to the JSON file to another container, Y.
  3. Trigger the execution of container Y.

Any assistance or guidance on accomplishing this would be highly appreciated!

If you're looking to achieve a specific goal, the concept of Jobs might be just what you need.

A Job in Kubernetes creates and manages Pods to ensure a specified number of them successfully complete their tasks. It tracks these successful completions until the job is considered finished. Deleting a Job will also clean up the associated Pods it created.

In simple terms, a Job can ensure that one Pod completes its task reliably. If the initial Pod fails or is removed, a new one will be started by the Job object.

You can even use a Job to execute multiple Pods simultaneously.

In addition to Jobs, you may want to explore the concept of Init Containers.

Init containers function similarly to regular containers but with some key differences:

Init containers always run until completion before moving on to the next one. Each init container must finish successfully for the next one to begin.

If an init container within a Pod fails, Kubernetes will continuously restart the Pod until the init container succeeds.

Also, consider using PV+PVC in Kubernetes to store and share data such as JSON files.
