Experience the Firefox nightmare with a fixed background-attachment!

I've been struggling with a puzzling issue all day, and I'm hoping that someone with more expertise can help me solve it.

As I work on updating the design of my website, I've encountered what seems to be a bug specific to Firefox. I've applied background-attachment: fixed to create a gradient on the <body> element, and included another background image in a full-width <div> at the top of the page. However, in Firefox, there is an unexpected small white border at the top of the page and on either side of the <div> background.

Despite trying numerous HTML and CSS coding approaches, the issue persists across all variations. Interestingly, this white gap does not appear in earlier versions of Firefox (I first noticed it in version 6). Even after performing a clean reinstall of Firefox without any add-ons, the problem remains. Any insights into what might be causing this anomaly? Could there be an error in my code?

Note: This matter may be connected to: Crazy CSS Issue in Firefox Only - position fixed and background color, but I am uncertain about the correlation.

Answer №1

Hey Dominic, you can check out this link for more information on the issue we discussed earlier. There's also a potential workaround mentioned in this post.

Answer №2

Perhaps consider using a slightly smaller image width? It looks like Firefox is having trouble rendering it properly, especially when zooming in - there seems to be a small white border appearing above it.

UPDATE

After making a change to the body CSS by setting background-position: scroll, the issue appears to have been resolved.

body {
  background: url("http://www.mygemologist.com/resources/bg-gradient.jpg") repeat-x scroll left top transparent;
}
