Exploring the world of Angular CLI testing and the versatility of

Struggling with integrating Angular CLI's test framework and enum types? When creating an enum like the following (found in someenum.ts):

const enum SomeEnum {
  Val0,
  Val1
}

Utilizing it in this way (in app.component.ts):

private someEnum = SomeEnum.Val0;

Running this code using ng serve executes fine, producing the JS as:

this.someEnum = 0 /* Val0 */;

However, running tests using ng test results in a compiler error:

ERROR in src/app/app.component.ts(10,14): error TS2304: Cannot find name 'SomeEnum'.

The issue may be related to the TypeScript configuration for the testing environment. Looking for guidance or explanations on resolving this problem.

I faced a similar issue recently. The solution I found was to export my enums in order to resolve it. Here is an example of how you can do it:

languageEnums.ts

export const enum Languages {
  ENGLISH = "en-US",
  SWEDISH = "sv-SE"
}

app.component.ts

import { Languages } from '../assets/constants';

...

private language = Languages.ENGLISH;

I decided to create a new folder called constants within the assets directory where I stored all my enums. Remember, one enum per file! There's no need to import them into the app.module.ts or the .spec files.

After making these changes, the issues were resolved successfully.
