Exploring the world of third-party widgets: Comparing Angular, jQuery, and traditional JavaScript

I have a plan to develop a simple embeddable widget similar to Google ads or Facebook like box. Users will be able to easily add the widget to their website and I will extract some parameters to fetch data from my servers.

Previously, I relied on jQuery for API calls, templating, and DOM manipulation, which worked seamlessly for me.

I'm contemplating whether to switch to Angular or continue using jQuery or plain vanilla JS for this project.

Your input is highly valued. Thanks!

I find the jQuery-UI's approach to developing custom widgets particularly appealing. It is relatively easy to grasp and implement. The flexibility it offers allows you to either create your unique widget or build upon existing ones, such as progressbar, draggable, droppable.

$.widget( "widget.my_custom_widget", {
    options: {  // Default settings.
        value: 0
    },
    _create: function() {
        this.element.addClass( "my_custom_widget" ).text( this.options.value );
console.log(this);
    }
});

var my_custom_widget = $('#custom_widget').my_custom_widget({
value : 1
})
.my_custom_widget{
text-align: center;
border:1px solid #000;
width:20px;
height: 20px;
}
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="https://code.jquery.com/ui/1.11.3/jquery-ui.min.js"></script>

<div id="custom_widget"> </div>

My recommendation would be to utilize Vanilla JS for the widget, as it will eliminate the need for other frameworks and simplify usability. Considering that various developers may use different frameworks, requiring a specific one for the widget could deter some users. In essence, Vanilla JS is universally consistent across all frameworks, making it the optimal choice.
