Extracting and retrieving the value from the paramMap in Angular/JavaScript

How can we extract only the value from the router param map? Currently, the output is:

 authkey:af408c30-d212-4efe-933d-54606709fa32

I am interested in obtaining just the random

"af408c30-d212-4efe-933d-54606709fa32"
without the key "authkey:". How can this be achieved in JavaScript or is there a way in Angular to retrieve the value only? Thank you.

 this.router.paramMap.subscribe(paramMap => {
      this.authKey = paramMap.get('authkey')
    });
  • Current result: authkey:af408c30-d212-4efe-933d-54606709fa32
  • Expected outcome: af408c30-d212-4efe-933d-54606709fa32. I wish to eliminate the inclusion of authkey:.

Answer №1

A simple solution is to remove the authKey element from the specified string by following these steps:

this.authKey = paramMap.get('authkey').replace('authkey:', '')

Answer №2

Angular interprets everything as the authkey parameter due to how parameters are defined in your Router Module. To fix this, you need to manipulate the string and remove the "authkey:" part.

Here's how you can do it:

this.authKey = paramMap.get('authkey').replace('authkey:', '')
