Grunt jade compiler populating attributes with default values

When using the grunt-contrib-jade module to compile my Jade templates, I encountered an issue. If I leave my attribute blank, like in this line of code:

article(ui-view)

The compiled output becomes:

<article ui-view="ui-view"></article>

This causes a problem with AngularJS ui-router, as it does not handle the "ui-view" directive as a named view, which is not the desired behavior. One solution is to modify my jade file to include an empty value for the attribute:

article(ui-view='')

However, this is not the ideal approach. Is there a way to prevent the jade compiler from automatically populating empty attributes?

Having doctype html at the start of a .jade file always seems to make things run smoothly.

Even for partials lacking a doctype, the issue can be resolved by passing {doctype: 'html'} as an option when using Jade:

jade -O "{doctype:'html'}" partial.jade

This method also applies to using grunt-contrib-jade, simply add doctype: 'html' to the options, like this:

jade: {
  devel: {
    options: {
      pretty: true,
      doctype: 'html'
    },
    files: [{
      expand: true,
      cwd: 'src',
      src: [ '**/*.jade' ],
      dest: 'app',
      ext: '.html'
    }]
  }
}

Employ pure HTML within your jade template by utilizing the following code: <div ui-view></div>
