"Guidelines for implementing a post-login redirection to the homepage in React with the latest version of react-router (v

I am facing an issue where I am unable to redirect to the Home Page when I click the "Login" button during my React studies. Despite trying all possible methods for redirects, none of them seem to work.

The function that is executed when I click the "login" button can be found here.

This is my React router setup: the "Principal" page serves as the home page.

My code is written in Portuguese.

I have attempted to use the "redirect('/principal');" function and other similar functions, but they do not seem to be effective. Can anyone provide assistance?

Answer №1

If you want to redirect users after they log in, you can achieve this by utilizing the useNavigate hook provided by react-router-dom.

Here's an example of how you can implement it:

import {useNavigate} from 'react-router-dom'
const navigate = useNavigate()

if(userLoggedIn){
  navigate('/home')
}

Make sure to replace the condition "userLoggedIn" with your actual if statement condition.

Answer №2

If you're looking to navigate using react-router, consider utilizing the useNavigate hook.

import { useNavigate } from "react-router-dom";

const NavigationButton = () => {
  const navigate = useNavigate();

  function handleNavigation() {
    // Your navigation logic here
    navigate("/destination");
  }

  return (
    <button type="button" onClick={handleNavigation}>
      Navigate
    </button>
  );
}
