How can I prevent right-clicking with Ctrl+LeftMouseClick in Firefox on MacOS?

I'm looking to implement a shortcut using Ctrl+LeftMouseClick in my React project.

It functions perfectly on Chrome on my Mac, but in Firefox the shortcut initiates a right mouse click (event.button = 2). I believe this may be due to MacOS's Right Click feature with Ctrl+LeftMouse Click.

However, I'm curious why it works in Chrome and how I can ensure it also works in Firefox. Any suggestions?

If you're looking to create a React test based on the results of a Firefox console test in plain Javascript, here's some useful information for you. I've found that I can detect ctrl-clicks on the trackpad in Firefox by adding the following event listener. It seems that evt.button always returns 2 for me. However, when using a trackpad, I can differentiate between a two-finger-press right-click by checking evt.buttons. I haven't tested this with a mouse, but it's possible that a different approach may be needed. Keep in mind that there are user-controlled settings that could affect how ctrl-click behaves as a right-click.

document.body.addEventListener('contextmenu', (evt) => {
    if (evt.ctrlKey && evt.buttons == 1) {
        console.log("ctrl-click detected");
        evt.preventDefault();
    }
});
