How to exit a dialog in an Angular TypeScript component with precision

Hey there, I'm attempting to close a dialog from the component by specifying the path in .angular-cli.json and calling the function. However, it seems that despite my efforts, the dialog isn't closing and the redirection isn't happening.

Here's the component code:

declare function closeDialog(): any;
export class DemoNotificationComponent implements OnInit   {
constructor(private router: Router) {
}

  ngOnInit() {
  }
  responder(){
   closeDialog()
   this.router.navigate(['/enviarMensajes']);

  }
}

And here's the HTML snippet:

<dialog #dialog style="width:30%;" id="dialog">
    <div *ngFor="let mensaje of mensajes">{{mensaje.mensaje}}</div>

</dialog>

Additionally, in the JavaScript file:

const dialog = document.getElementById("dialog");

function showDialog() {
 dialog.show();
}

function closeDialog() {
 dialog.close();
}

I've been trying to handle closing the dialog within the component and redirecting to another one with no success so far.

Answer №1

After much searching, I finally discovered the key to solving the issue at hand. By simply including the line

const dialog = document.getElementById("dialog");
within the function, progress was made. However, despite this breakthrough, the redirection still failed to occur.

Answer №2

Instead of utilizing the following code in your JavaScript file:

const dialog = document.getElementById("dialog");

You can use the code below:

const dialog = document.querySelector('dialog').close();
