IE Browser Exposes Flawed Design in JSP Coding

I have a pair of JSP files. The first one features a table, while the second one contains rows (<tr>) that are meant to be added to the table.

Within the second JSP file, I initialize the same action, followed by the <tr> element that should be included:

<html:form action="MyAction">
    <tr>
        <td>
            <nested:text property="myObject.myfield" maxlength="4" />
        </td>
    </tr>
</html:form>

The layout looks correct when viewed in Firefox, but in Internet Explorer it appears distorted! I suspect that the new <tr> does not properly belong to the table.

Could this issue be caused by how the action is defined within the second JSP file? If so, what could potentially serve as a solution?

Answer №1

I managed to find a solution to this issue by approaching it from a different angle:

In the initial jsp file, right before calling the second jsp, I included the following code:

request.setAttribute("myObject", myObject);

As a result, the second jsp was modified to only contain the following lines of code:

<% Object myObject= (Object)request.getAttribute("parentRiskWeighting");%>
<tr>
    <td>
       <input type="text" class="input-tbl" value=" <%= myObject.myfield %> " maxlength="4" />
    </td>
</tr>
