"Implementing a new dynamic route post-deployment in Nuxt: A step-by-step guide

After successfully deploying my site on AWS using nuxt generate with dynamic routes, I encountered an issue. I wanted to add a new route without having to go through the entire deployment process again.

For example:

/post/1
/post/2
/post/3
------- already deployed and works fine ------
/post/4 <- want to add after deployment

I manually uploaded the generated index.html file on S3, allowing me to access it at /post/4/index.html. However, when trying to access /post/4, it displayed a page created with /post/_id.vue.

I suspect that the routing is not updated (I am unsure of the routing rule in the /dist folder).

Is there any way to upload a new dynamic route without going through the entire deployment process again?

Answer №1

To ensure each page is generated before deployment, it is important to note that dynamic routes are not automatically included in the generation process.

You can customize this by going into your nuxt.config.js file and locating the generate key. Below is a simple example of how you can specify specific routes for generation:

export default {
  ...
  generate: {
    routes: [
      '/post/1',
      '/post/2',
      '/post/3',
      '/post/4'
    ]
  }
}

If you need to programmatically generate dynamic routes, you will have to create a function to handle this task.

For more detailed information, please refer to the documentation here: https://nuxtjs.org/api/configuration-generate/

Here is a straightforward example on how to achieve this:

import BlogService from './services/BlogService.js'
...
export default {
  ...
  generate: {
    routes: () => {
      return BlogService.getPosts().then(response => {
        return response.data.map(post => {
          return '/post/' + post.id
        })
      })
    }
  }
}

Answer №2

There seems to be an error in the publishing process.

amplify publish // This command is used to publish a Vue application, indicating that the target is a Single Page Application (SPA) rather than a static website.

I successfully deployed the files on S3 and everything is working as expected.

I attempted to follow the guidance provided on the following website but was unsuccessful.

https://aws.amazon.com/ko/blogs/mobile/deploy-files-s3-dropbox-amplify-console/

I am interested in using Amplify with Nuxt generate for my project.

It seems like I may have posed the wrong question, as there doesn't appear to be a correct answer anyway.
