Interacting with API through AngularJS $http.get

I am a beginner in AngularJS and I am trying to grasp its concepts by studying example codes.

Currently, I have found an interesting code snippet that involves the $http.get function. You can find it here:

I attempted to replace the URL with my own, but unfortunately, it did not work as expected. This has left me extremely perplexed. If anyone could provide assistance, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Update: Many thanks for all the helpful responses! It seems that using "double ng-app" was indeed a mistake, but upon further investigation, I realized that it is not the primary cause of this issue. My intuition tells me that this problem may be related to cross-site blocking. I've already disabled it on my API (I'm utilizing CodeIgniter REST API and set $config['csrf_protection'] = FALSE;), but I'm uncertain about how to properly configure it. Any guidance regarding this matter would be highly valued.

    </head>
    <body ng-app="myApp">
        <div ng-controller="customersCtrl">
            <ul>
                {{names}}
            </ul>
        </div>
        <div ng-controller="myCtrl">
            <ul>
                {{names}}
            </ul>
        </div>
        <script>
        var app = angular.module('myApp', []);
        app.controller('customersCtrl', function($scope, $http) {
        $http.get("http://www.examplewebsite.com/Customers_JSON.php")
        .success(function (response) {$scope.names = response;});
        });
        app.controller('myCtrl', function($scope, $http) {
        $http.get("https://api.examplewebsite.com/colors2.php")
        .success(function (response) {$scope.names = response;});
        });
        </script>

Answer №1

An issue arises when there are dual declarations of "myApp". According to the AngularJS documentation:

For a single HTML document, only one AngularJS application can be bootstrapped automatically. The first occurrence of ngApp found in the document will serve as the root element for automatic bootstrapping as an application.

In order to resolve this problem, it is recommended to relocate the ng-app="myApp" attribute to the body element. Nevertheless, even after implementing this change, you might still face an absence of results due to browser blocking the second request by default because of cross-site scripting concerns.

Answer №2

If multiple ng-app directives are present on a single page, only the first one will be executed while the second one will be ignored.

To resolve this issue, you need to remove the ng-app="myApp" from both div elements in your HTML. Instead, you can bootstrap your Angular app on the HTML page using the angular.bootstrap function with the following code:

Example Code

angular.element(document).ready(function() {
  angular.bootstrap(document, ['myApp']);
});
