Is there a way to modify AJAX response HTML and seamlessly proceed with replacement using jQuery?

I am working on an AJAX function that retrieves new HTML content and updates the form data in response.html. However, there is a specific attribute that needs to be modified before the replacement can occur.

Despite my best efforts, I have been struggling to make it work properly:

success: function(response, status, xhr) {
    if (response.data.html !== null) {
        var newdata = response.data.html;
        if(firstload == 1){
            var newhtml  = $(newdata).find('.trigger').attr('data-firstload',0);
            // Now comes the challenge of replacing newdata
        }
        $(container).html(newdata);
    }
}

To update your HTML content with jQuery, you can first create a jQuery object containing the new HTML, then modify it before appending it to the container. Here's an example:

success: function(response, status, xhr) {
    if (response.data.html !== null) {
        var $newElement = $(response.data.html);

        // Modify the new HTML element
        if (firstload == 1)
            $newElement.find('.trigger').attr('data-firstload', 0);

        // Replace old content with new content
        $(container).empty().append($newElement);
    }
},
