Is there an HTML editing tool that has the ability to collapse code blocks by tags and rearrange them?

I'm in search of a text editor or IDE that includes syntax highlighting and allows me to collapse HTML code blocks by tag. I currently use Eclipse, but its "folding" feature only works on top level tags like TABLE, not child tags like TD and TR. Are there any editors for Windows PCs that have this capability? I need to be able to easily move these code blocks around my PHP scripts as entities. For example, moving a TD element containing a large block of code from one row to another can be difficult without the ability to collapse it first.

Answer №1

For an extended period, I have been utilizing NetBeans. It stands out from Eclipse in various ways (not all positive, but some excellent usability enhancements), and it provides the essential feature of being able to collapse any tag, regardless of its position within the hierarchy.

Answer №2

When it comes to Windows, my go-to is Notepad++. For my Mac, TextWrangler gets the job done. As for Linux, I've heard that gedit offers similar features, but I can't guarantee it.

Answer №3

A recommended tool for creating collapsible and expandable tables or tags is Dreamweaver.
