Refresh the current page in Next.js when a tab is clicked

I am currently working on a Next.js page located at /product

While on the /product page, I want to be able to refresh the same page when I click on the product link in the top banner (navbar) that takes me back to /product.

Is there a way to achieve this?

For instance, my top navbar includes three different route links:

  • home
  • Product
  • ask

When I'm on the product page and I click on the product link again, I would like the entire page to refresh.

I attempted using the following code snippet but it did not provide a solution for me:

<a onClick={()=>router.push('/product')} >product</a>

Answer №1

If you ever need to reload your router, simply use the function router.reload() as shown below:

import { useRouter } from 'next/router'

export default function Page() {
  const router = useRouter()

  return (
    <button type="button" onClick={() => router.reload()}>
      Click here to reload
    </button>
  )
}

Answer №2

One handy way to refresh a web page using JavaScript is by utilizing the window.location.reload() function.

window.location.reload()

This simple line of code will trigger a page refresh. For those working with Next.js or React.js, you can enhance this functionality by incorporating promises and conditions for a more customized approach.
