Utilizing Javascript, I have successfully implemented a cookie setting feature that allows users to switch between normal and classic theme versions on my website by clicking a checkbox. The backend of my application is powered by PHP. My goal is to access the updated value once the user clicks the checkbox using PHP, which requires reloading the page for PHP to detect the change. However, I encountered an issue while attempting to reload the page.
location.reload(true);
Despite suggestions directing me to use the code snippet above, my Visual Studio Code flagged it as deprecated, and indeed, it did not function correctly.
Upon reviewing MDN - [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Location/reload][1], I learned that passing parameters is unnecessary and settled for simply using
location.reload();
While this method successfully triggers a page reload, it appears that the server is not re-requested, causing PHP to miss out on the updated value. Surprisingly, manually refreshing the page resolves the issue, contradicting MDN's statement: "The Location.reload() method reloads the current URL, like the Refresh button." So where do I go from here?
How can I ensure that PHP detects the new value without requiring manual intervention?
