Retrieve every span element within the Hidden field by utilizing JQuery

Recently I started using Jquery and I have a hidden variable that contains all span tags within it. Can anyone guide me on how to access all the span elements inside the hidden field value?

For instance, if there are 3 span elements within the hidden field, I want to retrieve them as an array of Span.

I attempted the following code but it did not work:

$('#<%=lblStatus.ClientID%> span').each(function() {

            var $span = $(this);
            var spanTxt = $span.html();
            // do something with the above

        });

Answer №1

You can use .text() in place of .html():

$('#<%=lblStatus.ClientID%> span').each(function() {
        var $span = $(this);
        var spanText = $span.text();
        // Perform action using the spanText variable

    });

Answer №2

If you think there might be a mistake, double check that you're using $() to enclose your selectors instead of just (). For example:

$('#<%=lblStatus.ClientID%> span').each(function() {
    var $span = $(this);
    var spanText = $span.html();
    // perform actions with the above
    });
