Selecting radio button does not update corresponding label

I am having an issue with setting a radio button as checked. In the example snippet, it works perfectly fine but on my localhost, it is not working. Even though the input gets checked, the label does not change. Surprisingly, if I set another radio button (#b) as checked, the label changes accordingly.

Check out the JSFiddle here.

$('#a').attr('checked', false);
$('#a').attr('checked', true);
input:checked + label {
  /* Add your CSS styles here */
}

Answer №1

To ensure proper functionality, it is recommended to utilize the .prop method instead of .attr. This will prevent generating incorrect HTML code such as `checked=false"`, which does not remove the checked property entirely.

Additional note: The issue occurred because the original poster mistakenly used .attr on two radio buttons with the same name. It's crucial to remember that using .attr does not delete the checked property, leading to both radios being marked as checked - an invalid scenario.
