Showing the number of times a button has been pressed

I have written some HTML code to create a button and now I am looking for guidance on how I can use Vue.js to track how many times the button has been clicked.

Here is what I have so far:

<div class="123">
  <button id = "Abutton" @click="abutton()">
    <img src="randomimage.png"
         style="width: 30px; height: 30px;"
    />
  </button>
</div>

And in my Vue.js code:

abutton: function (e) {
  const ButtonVal = e.target.value;
  console.log("Number of clicks:" + ButtonVal)
},

Answer №1

When a button doesn't have a specific value, you can utilize a data attribute as shown below:

<div class="123">
  <button id = "Abutton" @click="abutton()" data-clickcount="0">
    <img src="randomimage.png"
         style="width: 30px; height: 30px;"
    />
  </button>
</div>

In Vue.js, the function would look like this:

abutton: function (e) {
  // Retrieve the count
  const ButtonVal = +(e.target.dataset.clickcount);
  // Increase and update it
  e.target.dataset.clickcount = ButtonVal++;
  // Display it in console
  console.log("Number of likes:" + ButtonVal)
},
