Sliding with JavaScript

I'm looking to develop a unique web interface where users can divide a "timeline" into multiple segments.

Start|-----------------------------|End
         ^flag one   ^flag two

Users should be able to add customizable flags and adjust their positions by dragging them.

Although I've explored various sliders, they only cater to having one slider within a specified range of values.

Are there any jQuery plugins or other JavaScript libraries (or even HTML5/SVG) that serve as a solid foundation for implementing this particular feature?

It seems like you're referring to a slider that has multiple handles, rather than a traditional timeline. Although the SIMILE timeline is highly regarded, it doesn't have the capability for dynamic band creation. In this case, I would recommend using sliders instead.
