There seems to be a malfunction with the routing feature in the src/index.html file

My routing setup is not functioning as expected in src/index.html angular.

What I have is a header with some links for navigation:

    <header>
      <div class="logo">
        <div class="logo-img-div">
          <img src="../../assets/img/logo.png" alt="" class="logo-img" />
        </div>
      </div>

      <nav>
        <div class="elements">
          <ul>
            <li class="header-item">
              <a routerLink="/">Home</a>
            </li>
            <li class="header-item">
              <a routerLink="/category">Category</a>
            </li>
            <li class="header-item">
              <a routerLink="/about">About us</a>
            </li>
            <li class="header-item">
              <a routerLink="/contact">Contact us</a>
            </li>
          </ul>
        </div>
      </nav>
    </header>

However, when I try to navigate by clicking on the links, nothing happens. I've made sure that the paths are set up correctly. Interestingly, if I paste the same code within the component it works fine but appears twice.

Answer №1

routerLink is a specialized directive in Angular that cannot be used directly in index.html. Instead, it should be implemented within a component of a specific module. Consider moving your code snippet to app.component.html.

Answer №2

The reason for this issue is that your index.html file serves as a placeholder for Angular to display the component.

It seems like you're trying to use routerLink within the index.html file, but without importing the router module, which is why you can't utilize routerLink.

This type of routing functionality only functions properly within an Angular component.

Answer №3

The code will not function properly in index.html; it needs to be placed within the Angular application itself. Transfer your code to **.component.html for better integration. For further guidance, refer to this link: https://angular.io/api/router/RouterLink
