Tips for displaying lesser-known checkboxes upon clicking a button in Angular

I have a form with 15 checkboxes, but only 3 are the most popular. I would like to display these 3 by default and have an icon at the end to expand and collapse the rest of the checkboxes.

Since I'm using Angular for my website, I think I can simply utilize ng-show for this functionality. However, I am curious if there is a more standard way to achieve this. It seems like a common feature that should have a conventional method of implementation..?

Additionally, what type of icon is typically used for expanding and collapsing sections like this? While a small grey triangle is commonly used, it may not be the best choice for this situation. I know I've seen other forms handle this elegantly, but I can't seem to find them now for inspiration.

Your suggestions and advice are greatly appreciated!

In my application, I utilize the ng-show directive for a similar purpose and it functions effectively. I initialize the default value in my controller and then use the ng-click event to toggle the visibility.

Here is an example of how I implement it:

$scope.isExpanded = false;

For the HTML part:

When it comes to icons, I prefer using Bootstrap glyphicons. The glyphicon glyphicon-triangle-top and 

glyphicon glyphicon-triangle-bottom
are suitable for collapse/expand functionality, as well as glyphicon glyphicon-plus-sign and glyphicon glyphicon-minus-sign. You can explore more options here.
