Tips for handling special characters in formData when making a jQuery POST request

How can I effectively pass $scope.data.responseFields=CustType,AddedDt? I have attempted to use toString() to convert it into a string value before passing it as data, but the result is being passed as responseFields=CustType%252CAddedDt.

I also tried using escape characters to suppress ",", but it still doesn't work. Can someone point out what I am doing wrong here?

$.post(tempURL,$scope.data).done(function(oResponse, status, xhR){
        if(null!=oResponse){
             $scope.data = oResponse.result;
        }
        else
            alert("error retrieving information");
        $scope.$apply();
    }).fail(function(oResponse, status, xhR){
        alert(status);
    });

If you're in a situation like yours, the encodeURI function should do the trick: encodeURI($scope.data)
