Transform the assurance into a JSON entity

Currently facing an issue with converting the promise returned by the service to the controller. My goal is to generate an array of JSON objects using the data within the promise. In the controller, this is what I'm receiving: https://i.stack.imgur.com/lbFpI.png

Below is the code used to print the received data:

console.log("controller unmatched: ", unmatched.getData(sFilter));

In this context, "unmatched" refers to the service, and getData() is its corresponding function.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Answer №1

A Commitment symbolizes a potential outcome that may come to fruition at some point down the road, or perhaps never materialize. This signifies that the ultimate value cannot be retrieved through your unmatched.getData() method.

The solution is to modify unmatched.getData() so it returns the actual commitment, allowing you to take action once the commitment is fulfilled:

unmatched.getData(sFilter).then(function(result) {
  console.log("controller unmatched: ", result);
});

Answer №2

Update

If your build process allows for it, you may consider using the async/await API to simplify handling promises.

async function myCallbackFn(): void {
    const response = await unmatched.getData(sFilter);
    const json = JSON.stringify(response);
}

Revised

To clarify, the goal is typically to store the resolved value of a promise rather than the promise itself.

unmatched.getData(sFilter).then(response => {
    const json = JSON.stringify(response);
});

This distinction arises from the asynchronous nature of promises.

A Promise object signifies the eventual completion (or failure) of an asynchronous task and its resulting output.

Answer №3

Async operations utilizing Promises:

unmatched
  .fetchData(filter)

  // Await for the data to be resolved
  .then(data => console.log(JSON.stringify(data))
;

Answer №4

To extract JSON objects from a promise, you may utilize the following line of code:

data.parseJSON()
