Transforming ActivatedRoute.queryParams into a Promise

Instead of subscribing to route.queryParams as an Observable, I want it to be a Promise so that I can use async/await for function calls in ngOnInit. However, my attempt at this is not working as expected. The code below does not produce any output:

constructor(private route: ActivatedRoute) { }

  async ngOnInit() {
    this.route.queryParams.toPromise().then(res => {
      console.log(res);
    });
  }

Can someone please help me identify what I'm doing wrong? Thank you!

It is important to note that the queryParams observable being long-lived presents a challenge when trying to convert it to a promise directly. In order to achieve this, you must use the take operator to extract the first emission and then convert it into a promise.

import { take } from 'rxjs/operators';
....
constructor(private route: ActivatedRoute) { }

  async ngOnInit() {
    // To resolve this issue, include pipe(take(1)) to capture the initial emission, close the stream,
    // and change it into a promise.
    this.route.queryParams.pipe(take(1)).toPromise().then(res => {
      console.log(res);
    });
  }
