Unable to locate the module styled-components/native in React Native

When adding types in tsconfig.json to remove TypeScript complaints and enable navigation to a package, the code looks like this:

import styled, {ThemeProvider} from 'styled-components/native';

The package needed is:

@types/styled-components-react-native

In the tsconfig.json file:

// prettier-ignore
{
  "extends": "@tsconfig/react-native/tsconfig.json", /* Recommended React Native TSConfig base */
  "typeRoots": ["node_modules/@types"],
  "types": ["@types/styled-components-react-native"],
    "skipLibCheck": true
}

After making these changes, some errors may still occur during the build process. For example:

error: Error: Unable to resolve module styled-components/native from /home/bihire/development/react-native/elika_homes/src/shared/ThemeProvider.tsx: styled-components/native could not be found within the project or in these directories:
  node_modules
  2 | import React from 'react';
  3 | import {StatusBar} from 'react-native';
> 4 | import styled, {ThemeProvider} from 'styled-components/native';

If you have encountered this error before, do you know how to fix it?

Answer №1

In order to utilize the ThemeProvider from styled-components, you need to import it directly:

import {ThemeProvider} from 'styled-components';

I trust this information proves valuable to you.
