Unlocking CORS on DIVSHOT: A Step-by-Step Guide

I've encountered a challenge with the Access-Allow-Control-Origin issue while using Divshot. My mobile app is designed to display posts from a WordPress account, and while testing in a browser I can see the posts without any problem. However, when I try to open the app in Chrome on my mobile device, the posts do not appear. It seems like others have faced similar issues, suggesting that I need to implement CORS in the Divshot configuration file.

On the Divshot page, they provide guidance in this documentation link, but I'm unsure how to apply it in my own app.

Custom Headers
If you need to set custom response headers for specific routes,
you can use the headers key in your configuration file:

{
  "headers": {
    "/cors-stuff/**": {
      "Access-Control-Allow-Origin": "*"
    },
    "/scripts/**": {
      "content-type": "text/javascript"
    }
  }
}

This feature can be utilized to enforce content security policies, specify different content types, enable cross-origin resource sharing (CORS), and more.

Here's an excerpt from my config file:

{
  "name": "urbanetradio",
  "root": "www",
  "clean_urls": true,
  "error_page": "error.html",
  "headers": {
    "Access-Control-Allow-Origin": "*",
    "/js/**": {
      "content-type": "text/javascript"
    }
  }
}

Despite this setup, I haven't seen improvements in resolving the issue.

Answer №1

If anyone is curious, when making the request, make sure to include additional parameters as shown in the example. I was able to get it working correctly now

fetchBlogs: function($scope) {
  $scope.postsURL = 'http://urbanetradio.com/wp-json/posts?_jsonp=JSON_CALLBACK';
  $http.jsonp($scope.postsURL).success(function(data, status, headers, config) {
    console.log(config);
    $scope.posts = data;
  }).error(function(data, status_headers, config) {
      console.log('error');
  });
}
