Using htaccess to restrict access to a specific URL path based on IP Address

(I don't believe the previous link addresses this question; please refer to the comment below)

I am currently utilizing a CMS platform that utilizes a database instead of the usual file-directory structure for managing webpages. Due to the absence of individual folders for each webpage, I am unable to insert an .htaccess file in specific directories to control access.

There is only one .htaccess file located in the main directory. Is it feasible to utilize this .htaccess file to limit access via IP Address for a particular URL? If so, what would be the syntax required? It must be specific to the URL since there doesn't appear to be any separate .html files for webpages within this CMS (it's all managed internally).

Here is the location of the .htaccess file:

/home/username/public_html/.htaccess

and the URL requiring access restrictions is as follows:

What code should be included in the .htaccess file to permit access solely from the IP Address 111.222.333.444 (for instance) to the aforementioned URL?

If this isn't achievable, are there alternative methods to address this issue of restricting IP Addresses for a specific webpage?

Answer №1

Controlling access with mod_rewrite Check out the official documentation for using mod_rewrite to control access. You can find instructions on blocking IP ranges under the section "Blocking of Robots."

I suggest giving this a try! While I can't guarantee its effectiveness, it's worth testing out. Hopefully, it will work in your favor.

RewriteEngine on # Enable module
RewriteCond %{REMOTE_ADDR} =123\.45\.67\.[8-9]
RewriteRule ^/locations/europe/contactus/ - [F]
