Using JavaScript, create a set of buttons within a div element and implement

$(document).ready(function() {
    $('#b1').click(function() {
         $('#uch').toggle("slow");
    });
    $('#b2').click(function() {
         $('#uch2').toggle("slow");
    })
})

Although I'm not a programmer, I somehow managed to create div buttons that open another div when clicked. However, I'm struggling with making it hide the previous div when a new button is clicked. I plan to integrate this into a Joomla template, but my attempts using jQuery have been unsuccessful. If someone cleverer than me could help out, I would greatly appreciate it. You can also view a working example on this fiddle.

After receiving some helpful answers, I made some edits to my code to simplify it and even added a third button. Everything seemed to work fine until I realized that clicking on an already opened div caused it to reappear as if in a loop.

You can view the edited version of this on this updated fiddle.

 $(document).ready(function() {
$('#b1').click(function() {
$('.bats').hide("slow");
$('#uch').toggle("slow");
});
$('#b2').click(function() {
$('.bats').hide("slow");
$('#uch2').toggle("slow");
});
$('#b3').click(function() {
$('.bats').hide("slow");
$('#uch3').toggle("slow");
});
})

To make the other element with class uch disappear slowly when a button is clicked, you can use the method hide('slow'). Here's an example code snippet:

$('#button1').click(function() {
    $('#uchElement').toggle("slow");
    $('#anotherUchElement').hide("slow");
});
$('#button2').click(function() {
    $('#uchElement').hide("slow");
    $('#anotherUchElement').toggle("slow");
});

Convert ID to Class Name

$(document).ready(function() {
  $('.button').click(function() {
    $('.container').hide();
    $(this).find('.content').toggle("slow");
  });
});

Below is a reliable solution to address your issue: make adjustments to your jQuery script in the following manner:

$(document).ready(function() {
  $('#button1').click(function() {
     if($('#section2').css('display') != 'none'){
          $('#section2').toggle("slow");
};
    $('#section1').toggle("slow");
  });
  $('#button2').click(function() {
     if($('#section1').css('display') != 'none'){
          $('#section1').toggle("slow");
};
    $('#section2').toggle("slow");
  });
});

One method to achieve this is by creating a function that closes any currently open elements before toggling the new one. This function can be called within your click event functions to ensure only one element is displayed at a time.
