"Utilizing Ionic version 2 to initiate a function from the calling page within a provider

I am facing an issue where I need to call a function (f1) from a provider and then from that function (f1), call another function on the page.

Here is the code for page1.ts:

import { Component } from '@angular/core';
import { NavController } from 'ionic-angular';
import { Storage } from '@ionic/storage';
import {Utils} from '../../providers/utils';

@Component({
  selector: 'page-page1',
  templateUrl: 'page1.html'
})
export class Page1 {

  //storage: any;

  constructor(public navCtrl: NavController, public storage: Storage, public utils: Utils) {

  }

  test()
  {
    this.utils.testOut(this.ret);
  }
  ret()
  {
    console.log(this);
  }

}

The Utils.ts file which serves as the provider is as follows:

import { Injectable } from '@angular/core';
import { Http , Headers} from '@angular/http';

/*
  Generated class for the HttpHelper provider.

  See https://angular.io/docs/ts/latest/guide/dependency-injection.html
  for more info on providers and Angular 2 DI.
*/
@Injectable()
export class Utils {

  constructor(private http: Http, private applicationConstants: ApplicationConstants) {

  }

  testOut(success:Function)
  {
      success();
  }

}

However, upon re-entering page1.ts, "undefined" is printed in the console.log, indicating that page1.ts is not accessible with all its variables and functions.

If anyone can provide assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.

Answer №1

In order to successfully call a function located in page1.ts from utils.ts, it is imperative that you import the page1.ts file before doing so.
