Watir does not have time to wait for the page to finish loading

Currently, when loading a page and clicking on an element within that page, I am relying on the sleep function. However, I find this method to be unreliable as the element disappears after some time.

 Clicking on (page1).buttonForNextPage
   @myvariable = (page2).target_link_element.wait_until_present().link.text

The wait_until_present() method does not seem to be effective in resolving the issue. Without adding sleeps, the code executes too quickly. Although it works with sleep(3), I am looking for a more consistent solution.

In addition, I am utilizing the pageobjects gem to manage my pages.

For optimal performance, it is advised to update your Watir package to the most recent version available, which is currently v6.8.4. Numerous bug fixes have been implemented since release v6.5.0 specifically targeting and resolving the problem you are encountering.
