Ways to extract link value in Angular

Is there a way to extract a value from a link using Angular 4? I have used *ngIf and would like to display a div based on the value within the link.

<div *ngIf="obtain the value from the current href">

Answer №1

<div *ngIf="checkHomePage()>

and in TypeScript,

 checkHomePage(): boolean {
        return this.router.url == 'yourhomepageurl';
  }

Answer №2

import { Router } from '@angular/router';

Include the router in the constructor and create a method within the class to access URL

constructor(router: Router) {

}

getUrl() {
    return this.router.url;
}

Update the HTML code to

<div *ngIf="getUrl()">

Answer №3

Make sure to import the router into your component.

import { Router, ActivatedRoute } from '@angular/router';

If you do not have @angular/router installed, you can do so by running "npm install @angular/router". Once installed, inject the router into your component like this:

constructor(private route: ActivatedRoute, private router: Router) { }

You can now create a method that will return true for your specific URL:

  return this.router.url === 'your URL'

Then simply call that method inside *ngIf="isYourPage()"
