Ways to update a nested object by utilizing the setState method

I have a situation where I need to modify the key/value pairs of an object in my state. Specifically, I need to add a key/value pair to the object with an ID of 13.

Please refer to the attached photo for reference.

Although I know how to use setState, I am unsure of how to target and update the object with an ID of '13' using setState.

Is there a way to utilize filter or map functions in combination with setState? Below is my current setState code. However, I am unsure about how to specifically target the object with an ID of 13:

this.setState(prevState => ({
  carpets: [...prevState.carpets, this.state.carpet],
}));

Answer №1

this.updateState(prevState => ({
  rugs: prevState.rugs.map(rug => (
    rug.id === 13
      ? { ...rug, attribute: modification }
      : rug
  ))
}));
