What is a way to create a colored <hr> element without increasing its height at all?

I'm facing a dilemma - I created an hr element and it's currently grey, but I want to change the color to black. The issue is that when I do this, it appears thicker and ruins the overall styling of my page. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can change the color without affecting the height? I'd like it to maintain the same height as before. Just for reference, I'm using Chrome (both browser and computer).

Answer №1

Experiment with different border hues

hr
{
 border-color: #000000;
 border-bottom: none;
 border-left: none;
 border-right: none;
}

Answer №2

Avoid using the hr tag solely for creating horizontal lines as it carries semantic meaning in HTML. Instead, consider adding a top or bottom border to an existing element for a more effective approach.
