Node.js is a new technology for me and I recently discovered the "__dirname" feature which is really useful for obtaining the absolute path of the script. However, I am intrigued by how it works and how it manages to interpret the directory structure. Despite my efforts in reading through the source code of node js, I have not been able to find a clear explanation.
These variables can be accessed globally in node.js. To try it out, simply create a new file on your system with any name, such as script.js, and add the following line of code:
console.log(__dirname);
To see the output, run the file using the command:
node script.js
This will display the current directory path.
