What tools do Sketchfab and Thangs utilize to display 3D models?

My website functions as a digital library for a particular niche of 3D models. However, I've noticed that the performance on mobile devices when using modelviewer to display glb files is quite poor. Frequently, the page crashes and reloads unexpectedly, especially when accessed through the Instagram web viewer which many of our customers utilize. After exploring platforms like Thangs and Sketchfab, it's clear that this issue doesn't occur on their sites. Can anyone advise me on what they use for displaying model previews?

Answer №1

Sketchfab utilizes its proprietary rendering engine which incorporates numerous real-time optimizations. As far as I am aware, it is not a derivative of three.js.
