When new text is added to Div, the first line is not displayed

One of the divs on my page has an ID of "TrancriptBox" and contains multiple lines of text.

When I scroll through it on my iPad, everything works fine. However, if I scroll and then change the text within that div, it doesn't display the first line of the new text. Instead, it shows me the scrolled position without showing the beginning of the new text.

Here's the code:

$("#TrancriptBox").text("");
$("#TrancriptBox").text(trancriptText);

The variable "trancriptText" is the text being passed to the div.

Can anyone please provide suggestions on how to ensure that the first line of the newly loaded text is displayed when updated in the div?

Answer №1

To reset the scroll position, simply use the scrollTop() method:

$("#TrancriptBox").text(trancriptText).scrollTop(0);

Since you are already resetting the text content with text(), there is no need to clear the text first using .text(''). You can directly apply the method with the new variable passed in.

Answer №2

Give it a shot:

$("#ChatBox").empty().html(chatText);
