Whenever I try to execute watir-webdriver, I notice that the CSS file is

Currently, I am in the process of learning how to utilize watir-webdriver in ruby for my QA tasks. However, a recurring issue arises when running my watir-webdriver scripts on certain sites - some pages have missing CSS Files. This particular problem seems unique to watir-webdriver as manual testing and selenium-webdriver work perfectly fine without any CSS issues. The absence of CSS files is crucial for the site's functionality and causes disruptions in my scripts. Is this a common problem? (I've searched but found no information) And are there any known workarounds available?

Update

In this code snippet, any removed content includes sensitive data such as URLs and titles, as well as instructions like checkbox selections or text field entries.

Watir Edited Code (Fluff Removed)

 b = Watir::Browser.start "URL"
 b.driver.manage.timeouts.implicit_wait = 30
 b.link(:text => 'Sign Up').click
 #Fill Up Sign Up Forms
 b.div(:id => "btn_continue").click
 #The missing CSS issue often occurs at this point during page loading, leading to script breaks

 puts b.title = "Title"
 b.buttion(:value => "Verify My Identity").click

Selenium WD Edited Code (Fluff Removed)

 driver.get "URL"
 assert_equal "Title", @driver.title
 sleep(5)
 @driver.find_element(:id, "signup").click
 #Fill Up Sign Up Forms
 @driver.find_element(:id, "btn_continue").click
 sleep(30)
 #No missing CSS problems experienced with Selenium WebDriver compared to Watir
 assert_equal "Title", @driver.title
 @driver.find_element(:css, "input.orange").click

Answer №1

One way to resolve the issue is to consider turning off caching, as this has been a successful solution for some individuals facing a similar problem. It is indeed puzzling that both selenium-webdriver and watir-webdriver exhibit different behavior despite their similarities.

require 'watir-webdriver'

require 'selenium-webdriver'
profile = Selenium::WebDriver::Firefox::Profile.new
profile['browser.cache.disk.enable'] = false

b = Watir::Browser.new :firefox, :profile => profile
