Bizarre Angular directive nesting issue discovered after upgrading from version 1.4.9 to 1.5.0

Forgive the unclear title; I am still trying to pinpoint exactly what is causing issues after the upgrade. Could it be a problem with nested directives or template inconsistencies?

(see sample images & links to CodePens below)

Issue

I have a basic open source AngularJS calendar library. It works flawlessly with AngularJS 1.4.9, but once I update to AngularJS 1.5.0, the layout breaks in strange ways.

No error messages are displayed and all calendar days are added to the DOM. However, they are all squeezed into one week and all weeks into a single month (not even starting with the first week or month.. frustrating!).

Investigation

I have gone through the migration guide for 1.4 > 1.5, but did not find any relevant information. I also checked the 1.5 changelog and related release candidate changelogs; again, nothing seemed related.

Upon inspecting the actual arrays of months/weeks/etc generated in JavaScript, everything seems fine. Removing nested directives and keeping all markup in a single template fixes the output issue in the DOM temporarily (though this is not a permanent solution as it disrupts certain functionalities of the library).

Any insights would be highly valued.

Code & Demos

View the same code with different versions of AngularJS (check Settings > JavaScript for linked libraries):

Remember, the only difference is the version of AngularJS used.

The directive utilized is simply:

<!-- This should display a 30-day calendar starting from today -->
<bc-calendar class="bc-calendar--days"></bc-calendar>

Answer №1

Although not a direct answer, the specific library mentioned heavily depends on the use of the replace directive flag, which has been deprecated. I decided to make some changes by removing the replace flag from each directive in the downloaded source code, along with a few modifications to the CSS to achieve what I needed. More information here

The adjustments made in the CSS were applied to elements like

.bc-calendar--days, .bc--calendar--days
:
width : 50px; display: inline-flex;
.
