Choosing a class using Jquery through a For loop in Javascript

I have a group of images with a class applied to them. I am attempting to create a for loop that will iterate through the elements of this class. In Python, you can use "for element in thing" and I was curious if there is something similar in JavaScript. After researching online about the JavaScript for/in loop, I came up with the following code:

    function walkingFeet(){
        for (foot in *class named walkingFoot*){
            [code to be executed]
        }
    }

I'm struggling to determine what should replace the asterisks and whether this syntax is valid in JavaScript. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If you've included the jquery tag in your code, then you can easily iterate through all the elements with a specific class using the following method:

$('.yourClass').each(function() {
     alert(this.id);
});

For more information about this method, you can visit this link on each().

Answer №2

Since you've tagged this question with jQuery, I'm assuming that you have access to it in your script. The best way to accomplish this is by utilizing jQuery's each function:

$('.element').each(function(index, element) {
    // index = the current index, starting from 0
    // element = the HTML DOM element, same as 'this'

    // code to be run goes here
});
